Little Drops

Little drops of water,
little grains of sand,
make the mighty ocean
and the beauteous land.

Little deeds of kindness,
little words of love,
make our earth an Eden,
like the heaven above.

Sometimes we think that to make an spiritual impact on this world, to truly touch the hearts of others, that we must do something grand and far-reaching.  Like the two stanzas from this long ago poem-turned-children's-song  reveal, it's the little drops that truly matter.

I had two phone calls this weekend.  Chats with friends that lifted my sagging spirits.  Words that encouraged and reminded me that God is with me.  A funny story, a laugh, a kind word.   Little drops.  One of the calls was barely two minutes long, the other a good bit longer.  The little drops sprinkled on me lightened my heart at exactly the right time and sent my mind to ponder God's love for me.

Thank you Lord, for those little drops.

God is faithful.
